District Art Competition

Congratulations to the following CCS students for their accomplishment and participation in the 2020 Annual General Federations Women’s Clubs – District 5 Art Festival Competition hosted by the Henderson Jr. Women’s Club and the Women’s League of Henderson held on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Wise, NC. 

This Art Festival Competition is billed as the largest Arts recognition program for young people in North Carolina and is in its 52nd year. Students from from grades 6-12 from the Vance, Person, Granville, Franklin, and Warren County competed. Entries included categories such as Acrylic, Graphite, Mixed Media, Watercolor, Soft Pastel & Photography. 

I am so excited to announce that all 5 of our CCS students received 1st place overall in their age/category, thus making them eligible to compete at state level. Unfortunately, the state competition this year was canceled, but none the less, their artwork is amazing.

  • Jackson Anderson – 6th Grade – 1st place overall in Soft Pastel (for grades 6-8)
  • Caden Paschall – 6th Grade – 1st place overall in B/W Photography (for grades 6-8)
  • Haley Reese – 6th Grade –1st place overall in Graphite Pencil Drawing (for grades 6-8)
  • Cody Paschall – 7th Grade – 1st place overall in Color Photography (for grades 6-8)
  • Marie O’Donoghue -10th grade – 1st place overall in Mixed Media Drawing (for grades 9-12)

Other CCS students that competed and placed well for their age and category were:

  • Marie O’Donoghue – 10th grade -Honorable mention 1st place overall in Mixed Media Painting-Watercolor (for grades 9-12)
  • Caden Paschall – 6th Grade – Honorable mention in Color Photography (for grades 6-8)
