Grading Scale

Crossroads adopted the 10-point grading scale along with the state of North Carolina in the 2015-2016 school year. Prior to that year, grades were calculated on a 7-point scale.

Grading Scale –  This sign is posted in each classroom.

GPA for High School Transcripts: The Way It Works

  • A = 4 points (Honors = 5 points for a weighted GPA)
  • B = 3 points (Honors = 4 points  for a weighted GPA)
  • C = 2 points (Honors = 3 points  for a weighted GPA)
  • D = 1 points (Honors = 2 points  for a weighted GPA)
  • F = 0 points

Add all the points earned based on the grades and divide by the total credits to get the GPA. Honors classes earn an extra point.

For a quick example, look at these four classes:

  1. Bible – A (4 points) – 1 credit
  2. Honors English – B (3 points on an unweighted scale, 4 points on a weighted scale) – 1 credit
  3. Math – C (2 points) – 1 credit
  4. PE – A (4 points but this is a 0.5 credit course)

Total credits taken:  3.5

Total unweighted points earned:  13 points divided by 3.5 credits = 3.71 unweighted GPA

Total weighted points earned: 14 points divided by 3.5 credits = 4.0 weighted GPA

FACTS automatically calculates GPA’s and prints them on the transcripts.
